A series of 10 player all play alls open to all players as follows:- The Masters will offer players the opportunity to play for an IM norm and is open to players rated 2050 or above, or those who have qualified via the Challengers. Please note that we only have places left for titled players. Untitled players completing the entry form will be contacted in the event a place becomes available. The Challengers is open to players rated over 1900, or graded above 150 ECF, or qualified from a previous Major. Players will be placed in groups of approximately equal strength. The winner of each challengers section will qualify for the next Masters event free of charge. The Major is open to all players rated below 2000 (or graded below 165 ECF) who want to play 9 competitive FIDE rated games of chess in a friendly atmosphere with the opportunity to gain those all important rating points or obtain their first ever FIDE rating. Players will be placed in groups according to rating / grade so that all the players in a group are of a similar strength. In an all play all, all games are FIDE rated, even if unrated players take part (this is unique to all play alls). Unrated players will obtain a full FIDE rating just by playing in this one event.* *By playing in this event, an unrated player will be assured of achieving a full FIDE rating as long as all the unrated players score at least a 1 point. FIDE ratings now go down to 1201 so it is realistic for any player graded 60 ECF or above to obtain a FIDE rating. All of these FIDE rated all play alls are set in the same great hotel as the London Diamond Jubilee Congress in June. |

It's not practical for an event such as this to have an Opening Ceremony with the drawing of lots for colours, but we do believe that all players should be able to see that the draw for colours is fair, transparent and random. For those of you who have played in one of our events before, you will know that we like to be inventive when it comes to doing this. In the week preceding the tournament, we will announce a sporting event whose outcome will determine colours at our congress! |

Venue and Directions – Crowne
Plaza Gatwick
The venue is in a prime location. Crawley town
centre is within walking distance (less than 1 mile)
and Gatwick Airport is a short drive away (3.5 miles)
or there is a hotel shuttle bus to and from the airport.
Car parking is available at the hotel. This is free of
charge ot those staying in the hotel, or £10 per day if not.
There is also plenty of free on street parking within 5
minutes walk of the hotel.
Take junction 7 from the M25 south onto the M23, following
the signs to Brighton. Exit the M23 at junciton 10
(A2011), following the signs for Crawley. At the
roundabout take the 3rd exit. Go straight over the
next roundabout (Hazelwick roundabout) - which is the 3rd
exit. The hotel is situated at the next roundabout (Tushmore
Gyratory) - 3rd exit. The entrance to the hotel is the
first turning on your left.
The railway station is linked directly to the South Terminal
at Gatwick Airport.
Gatwick Express
Gatwick Express is the fastest rail link between the airport
and central London. Non-stop trains run to and from London
Victoria every 15 minutes and take 30 minutes (35 minutes on
Sundays).
Tickets can be bought in the terminals, at the station, or
onboard at no extra cost.

Other rail services
The following services call at Gatwick Airport. You should
buy tickets before boarding the train.
First Capital Connect
Trains run every 15 minutes to Brighton (via Mid Sussex) and
to Bedford via East Croydon, London Bridge, St Pancras
International and Luton. Services to King's Lynn,
Peterborough and Cambridge leave from St Pancras
International.
Southern
Northbound trains run to London Victoria via East Croydon
and Clapham Junction, and to London Bridge via East Croydon.
Southbound services run to Brighton, Eastbourne, Portsmouth
and Southampton.
First Great Western
Services run to Redhill, Guilford and Reading. Money-saving
Gatwick Flyaway fares are available.
