No player may win more than one prize.

It's not practical for a weekend event such as Uxbridge to have an Opening Ceremony with the drawing of lots for colours, but we do believe that all players should be able to see that the draw for colours is fair, transparent and random. For those of you who have played in one of our events before, you will know that we like to be inventive when it comes to doing this.

Therefore, for this event we decided that colours would be based on the Europa league football match (KO 8.05pm Thursday 17th September)

Everton v AEK Athens

If there were a total of 3 or more goals in the game then the top seed in each section would be white.
If there were a total of 0, 1 or 2 goals in the game then the top seed in each section would be black.

Somehow Everton managed to win the match 4-0 so the top seed in each section will be white in Round 1.

Playing Schedule

Opening Ceremony Friday 18.50 - 19.00
Round 1 Friday 19.00 - 23.00
Round 2 Saturday 10.00 - 14.00
Round 3 Saturday 15.00 - 19.00
Round 4 Sunday 10.00 - 14.00
Round 5 Sunday 15.00 - 19.00

Grades & Ratings

Ratings from the September 2009 FIDE list will be used for the Open, whilst grades published in the August 2009 ECF list will be used for the other sections.

The Open will be FIDE rated, whilst all sections will be ECF graded.

Time Control

Open : All moves in 90 minutes plus 30 seconds per move increments from move 1

Other Sections : 40 moves in 100 minutes (1hr 40) then an additional 20 minutes to complete the game.

Re-pairing will take place 30 minutes after the start of a round.

Ungraded Players

Players without a grade in the 2009 ECF list must give details of estimated playing strength, including any previously held grading, or current grading from another body.  Ungraded players may not win a grading prize and, with the exception of the Open may only win 50% of any other prize.  Unrated players in the Open may not win a rating prize (unless one is specifically added for unrated players).

In the Open, pairings will be according to FIDE rules.  In the graded sections, pairings will be in accordance with ECF rules.

If more than 32 players participate in any section then accelerated pairings may be used for the first 3 rounds of that section at the controllers discretion.
